'The stone is crying out!!'
One day, I had an invitation from one gospel choir in Tohoku to do the
workshop and share a gospel message. The member is about 20, and most are
non-believers. The leader of the choir told me that she used to go to
church. I didn't bother to ask her the reason why she doesn't go any more.
They made flyers and advertised to many places. Those non-believers even
visited the church to invite people. By their hard work, 150 people had
gathered in an 80 people capacity room. Their request was to finish
everything in two and half hours. I thought is was a pretty though request
in such a short time, however since I was there all the way from Tokyo, I
tried my best to answer their request. Almost all of 150 people were a
beginner to sing gospel. First, I share the formation of Gospel and then, I
had them actually sing the gospel. I told them to move their body, feel the
rhythm, take steps and sing out laud. Tohoku has changed! Even the elders
followed what I was teaching. I picked an easy number " I've got peace like
a river", I share the meaning of the lyrics, taught the melody, and
practiced with humor, and just in hour, we were singing the song with unity.
After that, in joyful atmosphere, I shared the gospel message from the theme
"expression" and used scriptures from the Bible in John 7th, " out of his
heart will flow rivers of living water." All these people, who probably
hearing the story from the Bible are their first time, listened my talk
eagerly. After the meeting was over many had come to me to talk. One of them
was a young Municipal assembly committee. He was one of the leaders who are
against building a dam because of the environment issue. He said he was
encouraged by the story of living water and asked me to come to their
meeting one day. There was also a catholic minister who is in charge of a
church, which was built over 100 years ago. He also asked me to visit their
church and have a concert there. Many people had come to me and responded to
me "It was first time listening the story from the Bible, but I would like
to hear it again!h They were all grateful. That night, I was in hot spring
thinking about what just had happened. Was Japan ever so easy to preach the
gospel? The new era is here and something new is happening! The stone is
crying out!! (Luke 19:40)
